Abstract
The concept of remote sensing to assess environmental conditions is a relatively new
concept. Historically, information about the environment has been attained through physical
investigation and more recently through sensors in IoT (Internet of Things) systems. Currently,
in Ghana, there are a lot of activities such as illegal mining that tend to pollute water bodies. A
significant proportion of Ghanaians depend on surface water for their domestic and commercial
needs and so these water bodies must be protected and monitored. This project seeks to capitalize
on this concept of remote sensing by monitoring of quality parameters of major water bodies in
Ghana as a more cost-effective and sustainable approach.
