Abstract
A prototype of an IoT based electric vehicle battery management system was designed to
improve the health of cells in a battery pack of an electric vehicle. An IoT system was
deployed to allow users and producers of these battery packs to view the status of the cells
in the battery pack from the cloud. The design uses various resistor dividers to monitor the
individual cells' voltages, current, and temperature. A passive balancing circuit is also
implemented to ensure the individual cells charge and discharge at the same voltage level.
The voltages, current and temperature of individual cells were monitored successfully. A
database was designed to keep records of the individual batteries using phpMyAdmin, and
the data was successfully displayed on the website.
