dc.description.abstractBasic schools in Ghana, especially in Accra have problems keeping school records for extended periods of time (Azameti & Adjei, 2013). Most of these records are kept in paper form, and since paper is not durable and cannot be kept for a long time, their school records also get lost quickly (Azameti & Adjei, 2013; Adu, 2014). To solve this problem, an electronic web-based school records management system was built for basic schools in Accra, Ghana. The application is to help schools to keep all kinds of school records: Student records, Staff records and Inventory records. The final application was developed using web technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP programming languages after the analysis of the questionnaires was completed. The system was developed in three main parts: front-end, back-end and database for each stakeholder module. The main stakeholders of this system were parents, staff, and management of primary schools in Ghana, and for each of them, a different module was created based on the requirements of the stakeholders. The database was created to store all information entered into the system, the back-end handled all the server-side processes that influenced the elements on the front-end pages. The different requirements for the modules were gotten through different questionnaires administered to the different stakeholders. After implementation, the system was subjected to testing by stakeholders to ensure that it met the specified requirements. Feedback was collected from the participants of the testing phase to serve as the requirements for future work on the application.en_US
