Abstract

This project aims to develop a network of smart sockets for homes in Ghana to provide effective energy management. It will provide real-time updates about electricity consumption via mobile devices, allowing users to remotely operate home appliances, manage energy consumption, and reduce consumption. The Painless Mesh Arduino library was utilized to establish the network, and a mobile app and web application were created to enable remote control of the smart sockets. The current drawn from the sockets was measured using ACS712, and this data was used to calculate the power consumption, which was then pushed to a database. The smart socket project successfully achieved its primary goal of developing a smart plug socket system that can monitor power consumption, provide real-time data, and remotely control connected appliances
