Knowledge of accurate occupancy is essential to very hospital in determining whether the hospital is under-occupied and wasting resources or over occupied such as that they may not be providing proper patient care. It is also very imperative especially in emergency situations that the current bed occupancy is known such that incoming patients experience reduced wait times which lead to improved patient outcomes.
